In the Catalogue, you can view an embedded asset, view and edit information, tags and attributes, follow a link to view or edit an asset, and add discussions about an asset.
The actions available for an asset depend on the type of asset. For example, some assets may not require an edit option.
You can manage your assets with the following actions:
Action | Description |
---|---|
Asset Name | Click on the Asset Name to be directed to the asset at its source in a new tab. |
Open | Click on Open to be directed to the asset at its source in a new tab. |
Edit | Click on Edit to edit the asset in its own source in a new tab. |
Manage tags | You can add and remove tags on an asset. |
Info | View basics, metadata, attributes and tags. You can edit the asset name in the basics, attributes and tags. |
Discussions | You can start and view discussions about the asset. |
These actions are found on the right of the catalogue table.
The Open button will open a new tab to view the asset in its source.
The Information button will open a new page where you can view information about the asset, edit its metadata, attributes and tags.
On this page, you can view basic information, metadata, tags and attributes, all in their own sections.
You can edit basic information, but what can be edited is dependent on the asset’s entity type. Fields linked to a source system for example cannot be edited such as the entity type, author or group.
Click on Edit at the top-right of the information card to edit applicable basic information.
For example, you can edit the name of an asset, and provide a name that describes the asset if the previous name was not clear.
The metadata available for the asset will be displayed on the right-hand card. The metadata available will be dependent on the asset.
Any attributes you have attached to an entity type will display if the asset is of that entity type.
You can edit these attributes by clicking on Edit at the top-right of its card.
You can view tags attached to an asset in the Tags card.
You can edit these tags by clicking on Edit at the top-right of its card.
You can delete an asset by clicking on Delete at the top-right of the page. This is only available to administrators and curators.
While you can manage tags when editing an asset’s information, you can also manage tags on an asset while in the catalogue.
To add and remove tags on an asset in the catalogue, click on the Manage tags button under ‘Actions’ on the right.
(You can learn more about managing and merging tags here.)
Type in the tag you want to add to this asset, then click on Add beside it.
Any added tags will then be displayed above that field.
You can then view this tag in the catalogue or use this tag in the filters of the tag column of the catalogue.
You can also create discussions about an asset. Learn more about discussions here.
Click on Discussions under ‘Actions’ and you can create a new discussion or reply to an existing discussion.
